What does a typical VR workshop look like?

To get the most value-for-money, most schools opt for 5 VR sessions during the day. Each VR session accommodates up to 32 children and each session can be on a different theme e.g. 5 sessions could be: Romans, Maya, Oceans, The Human Body and the Stone-Age.

For a one form entry school, we can therefore deliver sessions from Y2-Y6.

What are the usual timings of the day?

08:00 – 09:00 Workshop Leader Arrives and Sets Up

09:00 – 09:50 First VR Session

10:00 – 10:50 Second VR Session

11:00 – 11:50 Third VR Session

12:00 – 13:00 VR Headsets Charge Over Lunch

13:10 – 14:00 Fourth VR Session

14:10 – 15:00 Fifth VR Session

Where do the VR workshops take place?

Ideally, we require a classroom for the day set out with tables and chairs to seat up to 32 children. Unfortunately, we cannot move from classroom to classroom throughout the day as there is only a 10-minute window for our workshop leader to clean the headsets and prepare for the next VR workshop (usually a completely different theme).

How does a VR session work?

We take 16 VR headsets into a school so we can accommodate a maximum of 32 children at a time by sharing the headsets one between two. Whilst their partner is in the virtual reality world, the other partner will be asking them questions about what they can see and recording the answers using our purpose-made worksheets.

Is there anything we need to do before having a VR workshop?

Yes. You will need to get parental consent for every child taking part. We will send you a parental consent form that you can send to parents.

Before the day, you will need to watch the Health and Safety video with your class.
